Bob & Jessie Paisley

Our club is dedicated to the most successful manager in the history of British football – Bob Paisley. His elevation to the boss’s chair came on the day Bill Shankly stunned everyone by quitting. When Kevin Keegan left for Hamburg after that triumphant night in Rome, Paisley came up with the masterstroke of signing Kenny Dalglish. With him leading the attack, and fellow Scots Alan Hansen and Graeme Souness joining shortly afterward, Paisley assembled arguably Liverpool’s greatest side ever. They retained the European Cup in 1978, then lost just four games out of 42 as they ran away with the League Championship the following year.

Club’s President Charlie Farrugia amongst most favourite memorabilia is certainly Bob Paisley’s cap.  Bob sometimes carried it along the line. Club President has been friends with Bob and Jessie Paisley for a long time. When Bob passed away, his wife Jessie gave him his flat cap. Above it is the note with the personal text that she sent him.

“A warm, affectionate woman. I went to her funeral in 2016. Here you see the prayer card. Contacts with the Paisley family have made me love Liverpool even more.” – continued Club’s President Charlie Farrugia.

Twenty trophies in nine seasons – In 23rd January 1919, the most successful English football manager of all-time was born.

Bob Paisley led Liverpool to an incredible 20 trophies between 1974 and 1983 and is one of just two men to claim a trio of European Cups. As a former Reds player, too, his association with the club spanned 44 years. After hanging up his boots in 1954, the left-back joined the backroom staff and rose through the ranks to eventually succeed the legendary Bill Shankly, albeit reluctantly, as Liverpool boss.
