Bill Shankly & Our Club

Shankly’s statue resides at the entrance to Anfield unveiled in 1997 is a scale resin by world famous sculpture Tom Murphy.

A tribute to Bill Shankly was written in history by our clup. Ian Rush was the guest of honour as our beloved Supporters Club on the island of Gozo unveiled a statue of the late Bill Shankly on 7th December 2012. This ceremony was part of the club’s 15th anniversary celebrations.

Club President Farrugia tells the story behind the statue in his garden. – “That statue of Bill Shankly has been here since 2012. It’s a real eye-catcher. Sometimes tourist buses pass by my house on purpose to check it out. I had the statue made in 2012 in honor of the fifteenth anniversary of our supporters club. Ian Rush came to reveal it, which was very special because he is one of my idols.”

Proudly and probaby our museum is probably the largest outside Anfield with lots of Liverpool F.C. memorabilia; including even a replica of the Shankly Gates right outside.

Rush, Liverpool’s all-time leading scorer with 346 goals in all competitions, joined the Kopites from the sister island for a reception (pictures below) and the unveiling of a statue depicting former manager Bill Shankly who led the team to several honours during his reign at Anfield between 1959 and 1974.

Our club paid respect to Bill Shankly 100th birthday which was commemorated on 2nd September 2013.
